Citizens' Assembly
If we want to prevent the climate catastrophe, we have to get serious. Our democracy urgently needs to regain its ability to act. And we need to do it now. We therefore call on the government to convene an emergency, closed-door meeting to turn the tide: A Citizens' Assembly.

Initial safety measures
A speed limit of 100 km/h would save up to 5.4 million metric tons of CO₂ annually. It can be implemented immediately and at virtually no cost. A majority for a general speed limit already exists and we need to reduce every ounce of greenhouse gas we can. A speed limit can even directly save lives by reducing traffic fatalities.
Affordable public transportation is also only fair in times of rising cost of living! In addition, a permanent 9-Euro-Ticket can reduce even more CO₂ than a speed limit.
