Berlin, October 24.11.2023, 16, 40:XNUMX a.m – This afternoon, Last Generation supporters interrupt car traffic at the Rosenthaler Platz subway station. With a colorful street scene, they invite people to join tomorrow's mass occupation. The mass occupation will take place at the Victory Column on the Straße des 12. Juni from 00:17 p.m.
Some protesters on the street sit facing passers-by in order to strike up a conversation with them. The location and date of the mass occupation are spray-painted around them in orange paint. They expressed their personal reasons for protesting on signs that they held up. Other supporters are out in the hustle and bustle of passers-by to distribute flyers and explain the necessity of their demands.
Last generation speaker Marion Fabian (73) explained: "There is no more time to waste. We need an energy transition – now, immediately and in a socially just way. Political measures must hold corporations and the small part of our society that consumes massive amounts of energy accountable."
The Parents Against Fossil Industry and Scientist Rebellion movements have also called for mass occupation. From a scientific perspective, it has long been known that an immediate phase-out of fossil energy production by 2030 at the latest is absolutely necessary in order to prevent the rapidly growing and uncontrollable extent of the worst climate catastrophes.
