Kempten, July 4.7.2023th, 18, 15:XNUMX p.m. – While in Leipzig today five Last Generation supporters were acquitted for a sit-in, in Kempten four Last Generation supporters were sentenced to two-month prison sentences without parole.
The second day of proceedings against six supporters of the last generation took place today at the Kempten regional court. She protested in May last year in the form of a sit-in in Kempten. While in Leipzig about two hours earlier, five Last Generation supporters were acquitted for a very similar protest, Judge Kempten made a completely different verdict.
Prison sentences of two months each without parole were imposed on Maja Winkelmann (25), Karl Braig (68), Christoph Meiler (26) and Max Wallstein (32). The other two people involved received a fine or were sentenced under juvenile criminal law.

Maya Winkelmann (25), who had already been sentenced to prison without parole in April, said after the protest: "Stopping is not an option. If there is no protest from society, the government will not change its course."
Karl Braig (68), father of two sons and former consultant for renewable energies, explains: “I'm not happy about going to prison. But two months in prison is nothing compared to what my children will have to endure if we continue on this course toward climate hell. Sometimes you just have to choose to be on the right side of history.”
