Again preventive detention in Bavaria - road blockades in many cities

February 06.02.2023th, XNUMX - Micha Frey and other supporters of the Last Generation block a street in Passau.

Passau/Stadelheim, February 07.02.2023th, 09, 00:XNUMX a.m. – After a peaceful traffic blockade in Passau yesterday, Micha Frey is in preventative detention for 14 days. Yesterday, citizens of the last generation in 16 German cities called on members of the Bundestag to convene a social council.

Micha Frey (24 years old) took part in a peaceful Last Generation protest yesterday in Passau together with four other citizens. He was the only one who managed to fix his hand on the street with superglue. He was sentenced to 14 days of preventive detention at a judicial hearing in Passau that same evening. He is supposed to serve preventive detention in Stadelheim Prison. At the beginning of November he was taken into preventive detention for a week.

Micha Frey explained before his arrest:
"We are peacefully blocking a road because the federal government is not fulfilling its duty to protect our livelihoods and those of future generations. Because our government is not even meeting its own, far too lax, climate targets. In view of worsening droughts, heat, floods and the impending collapse of our democracy in the climate catastrophe, I see it as my duty to provide peaceful resistance for our survival. "

Aimee van Baalen, spokesperson for the Last Generation, on the renewed preventive detention in Bavaria: “Once again, peaceful protest is preferred to be locked away instead of finally accepting our offers to negotiate and responding appropriately to the climate catastrophe as a threat to our civilization. Yesterday's protests in 16 German cities showed us that more and more citizens are realizing that they are part of the last generation before the tipping points. We will not be deterred by the threat of fines, preventive detention and attacks against us on the street. "
