Berlin, Munich, 9.12.2022, 8: 40 – Since yesterday, another 6 supporters of the Last Generation have been in preventive detention in Bavaria. One is in the hospital, where the detention hearing is scheduled for today. Since the beginning of the week, four more citizens in Bavaria have been preventively locked up for up to 30 days. The following are currently in preventive detention in Bavaria: two climate protectors until December 11.12.2022th, 17.12.2022, six until December 5.1.2022th, XNUMX, two until January XNUMXth, XNUMX.
Meanwhile, courage and determination remain unbroken: supporters are still blocking streets in Berlin today. The reason: The climate is threatening to tip. But what does that mean?

Aimee van Baalen, speaker of the Last Generation, said: “We are faced with the shards of our future. This year was marked by droughts of the century in East Africa, deadly floods in Pakistan, devastating fires in the USA, Australia and Europe. The world today is on average around 1,2 degrees hotter than in the pre-industrial era. This leads to an increase in extreme weather events. "

And further: "We have known for decades that we must drastically reduce our CO2 emissions so that global warming does not progress uncontrollably. Researchers have been warning about the catastrophic consequences of the climate policy failure of governments around the world for just as long. The more dramatic the situation becomes, the more urgent the warnings become. The UN no longer sees a credible course for maintaining the 1,5 degree limit. With their exceeding triggering climate tipping points is likely, whose self-reinforcing effects cannot be controlled by humans . "

Henning Jeschke, co-founder of the movement, continues: “Extreme weather events will occur even more frequently in the future. Many areas of the world will no longer be habitable. They will regularly be under water or be so hot that no human can survive there. Crops are destroyed and former cultivated areas are no longer usable. Billions will lose their homes. An incredible number of their lives. Fights for food, water and habitat will break out. The incredible suffering that results from this is unimaginable."

And further: "Meanwhile, the German government is building new gas terminals, signing contracts to promote fossil fuels and blocking even the simplest security measures in the fight against climate catastrophe. This course not only endangers the future of current and future generations. He's already killing people. He lets them starve, die of thirst and drown in floods. He robs children of their parents and parents of their children. And we all know that."

Meanwhile, the reaction of politicians to the peaceful protests of the last generation is telling: people who raise the alarm about the climate emergency are locked away, described as a danger to our democracy, which they are defending. The constitutional state is pooling its resources against climate protectors, while armed citizens of the Reich are planning the coup

But even in the face of violence, punishment and prison, we remain courageous, peaceful and determined. For survival. For all.
