Munich, September 06.12.2022th, 08, 30:XNUMX p.m – The protests of the Last Generation in Munich do not stop. After the Stachus was paralyzed four times yesterday alone and supporters of the last generation blocked the Munich motorway in seven places, people are gathering again today at Karlsplatz and on Munich sign bridges. The government's deadly course towards climate catastrophe is forcing them to continue peaceful protests.

Judith Beadle is the mother of two children. She was only recently released from weeks of preventive detention and also took part in several blockades yesterday. Today she is sitting on the street again. For them it is clear: “There can be no neutrality in a climate emergency. Everyone has to decide! Do we want things to continue like this, which inevitably brings suffering and destruction upon us, or do we protect the safety and lives of current and future generations?"

Yesterday there was a lot of support from the Munich population at Stachus. People applauded and offered tea to those sitting on the street. A father of two even spontaneously sat down on the street and stuck himself. Over 80 percent of the German population see a great or very great need for action when it comes to climate protection. The clearer the government's failures in the climate emergency and the resulting threat become, the greater the willingness to rebel against it.

For Judith is certain:"We will continue and call on all our fellow human beings to join us! Together we can get the government to act!"

The state's reactions to the Last Generation are mindless. They range from absurd counterarguments to historical comparisons and months of imprisonment. Meanwhile, the determination of those blocking remains unbroken.

Stefan Rahmstorf, one of Germany's most renowned climate researchers, points out on Twitter the only effective approach against the road blockades:“Is anyone in politics actually thinking about ending the climate protests by delivering the climate policy promised in the Paris Agreement? […] The Bundestag voted unanimously for it at the time."

The people on the streets only have one wish: they want the legally guaranteed safety measures promised to them to finally be taken. The climate catastrophe threatens the safety of their families and the entire survival of our democratic society. As soon as 100 km/h on motorways and a €9 ticket for buses and trains are implemented, they will immediately stop their protest.

Spokesman Jakob Beyer makes it clear: “Instead of implementing the simplest measures, the government continues to pour fuel on the fire. Blockades of the energy and transport transition as well as billions in investments in new fossil fuel projects will sooner or later drive millions of people to their deaths. It is our moral duty to resist this.”
