30 days of preventive custody – judges disagree

Munich, Berlin, December 7.12.2022, 8, 15:XNUMX a.m – In Munich yesterday, preventive detention was again imposed on several last generation citizens. Among those imprisoned is also Wolfgang Metzeler kick (48), who was taken into preventive detention for 23 days in November and was on hunger strike.

Apparently the judges seem to disagree about how to deal with the peaceful blockades, because this morning 6 other citizens who blocked again in Munich last night were immediately released after a judicial presentation. And this despite the fact that they honestly said that they would continue to block as long as initial safety measures such as a speed limit of 100 km/h were not implemented.

In Berlin Last generation supporters are currently stuck on the streets in several places, including Unter den Lindento express their demands for more climate protection.

Die Schauspielerin Irma Trommer explains why she is blocking traffic in Berlin today:
“It makes me angry that we have to watch as our federal government misses every opportunity to protect our livelihoods. Science has been warning us for decades that the climate is in danger of collapsing. Forests are burning and villages are being flooded - but instead of recognizing these obvious signs of the times and implementing decisive protective measures, the government is navigating us further and further towards the abyss. We must speak out loud and clear about this grievance until we are heard".

In fact, the current federal government signed a coalition agreement exactly a year ago. On paper she had acknowledged the situation: the climate catastrophe “endangers our livelihoods and threatens our freedom, prosperity and security.”[1] In practice, not even the simplest safety measures are addressed, such as 100 km/h on motorways and the reintroduction of the 9 euro ticket.

Jacob Beyer, spokesman for the Last Generation, has also been in prison in Bavaria for several weeks. He explains why he can't continue watching:
"If people are locked up to prevent protest and at the same time liquid natural gas terminals are built to fuel climate collapse, then there is no longer any neutrality. Either we decide to comfortably carry on as usual and, as a result, cause unimaginable suffering for all of humanity, or we sit down together at the table and turn things around. We are waiting for a sign that the federal government is committed to securing our livelihoods, as agreed in the coalition agreement. "
