Munich, 3.11.2022, 10: 30 – As previously announced, the Last Generation is now expanding its civil resistance to Munich. At the moment, Munich city traffic is interrupted at Karlsplatz. The supporters of all ages sit and stick themselves on the streets and demand the first safety measures to protect the population from the climate catastrophe. The youngest is 18 years old, the oldest is 79 years old. Also in Berlin and Freiburg There will be road blockages again today.

13 scientists who raised their voices to dissuade the government from a deadly course toward climate collapse are still in custody. You must remain in prison for a total of seven days.

Aimee van Baalen (23), speaker of the Last Generation, comments on this:
"The government consistently violates the law and our Constitution by ignoring and denying facts and resulting inaction. This endangers the lives of the population. Scientists are peacefully resisting this political failure - and are being imprisoned for it. What does that say about our country? We cannot accept this blatant injustice and have now expanded our resistance to Bavaria."

Judith (42) is a mother of two children. Today she is taking part in the blockades in Munich and thereby risks being imprisoned as well. She explains why this no longer scares her: “Of course I don't want to go to prison, of course I'm afraid of it. But what is the alternative? That I do nothing and watch as we race unchecked towards climate catastrophe? That I accept that the future of our children is knowingly destroyed for power and profit? That's simply not an option."

The renowned German meteorologist and climate researcher Mojib Latif explained in a recent interview: “I have the impression that the population is supposed to be calmed down by politicians pretending that they have the problem under control. But that is an illusion.”

But the population cannot be calmed down. Whether through lies, greenwashing or the threat of prison sentences.
In the face of impending catastrophe, collective silence is deadly.
The supporters of the last generation present society and the judiciary with a choice: They can condemn their fellow citizens for telling the truth and standing up for the protection of life; they can imprison them and silence them. Or we can finally take the situation seriously and initiate the first security measures against the impending climate collapse.
