Berlin, October 11.07.2022, 8, 00:XNUMX a.m – Citizens of the last generation are currently peacefully blocking Berlin highways for the fourth week in a row. This is how they denounce it 'criminal leadership failure' the Scholz government, which continues to plan new oil drilling in the North Sea. They remain determined and call on all fellow human beings to join their peaceful resistance for the survival of humanity.
Sonja Manderbach (45), church musician and mother, when asked why she is sitting on the street again today: “We are shocked that Olaf Scholz is not prepared to make a statement against new North Sea oil. This tells me that he and his government will not save the population. Scholz will push us over the cliff into climate catastrophe.”
And she is determined as she clings to the road: “New North Sea oil drilling means suffering for billions of people. Fossil oil is destroying our future and that of our children. Nights in solitary cells or accusations of criminal offenses will not deter us one inch from our resistance. The climate catastrophe is about nothing less than the survival of all humanity!”
Leah Bonasera (24), co-founder of Last Generation, calls on her fellow human beings: “In the summer of 2022, as Europe dries and burns and we head towards global climate collapse, there is no longer any neutrality. Not resisting now means supporting our government's destructive fossil fuel policy. Join our peaceful resistance against the destruction of our society!”
So far, the members of the Bundestag have been CDU and Left prefer to use Twitter to discuss the actions of the police rather than measures to curb the climate emergency. But a drought emergency is already being declared in northern Italy. Thousands and thousands of people in Australia would be standing in front of destroyed houses and we here in Germany would perhaps experience deadly heat of 45 degrees as early as next week.
For this reason, the citizens of the last generation would block the A100 again in several places today and would also occupy sign gantries again. They are firmly determined to continue to provide peaceful civil resistance for the future of all of us and for future generations.
