Berlin, October 09.07.2022, 10, 30:XNUMX a.m – A large police force has just taken away citizens of the last generation in handcuffs who were dressed as the self-proclaimed 'climate chancellor' Olaf Scholz. Beforehand, armed with spades and shovels, they tore up the earth in front of the Chancellor's Office and immediately discovered large amounts of fossil oil. They also held posters with the words 'Climate Chancellor Wanted'. Citizens are demanding a statement from the Chancellor before the summer break in which he will reject new oil drilling in the North Sea.
Co-initiator Leah Bonasera (24) about the symbolic action: “We have been contacting Olaf Scholz every day for weeks and appealing to his responsibility towards citizens and all future generations. We ask him to finally take the climate crisis seriously and clearly reject new oil drilling. Every new liter of fossil oil fuels the collapse of our climate and our society.”

Bonasera is referring to Article 20a GG, which states: “The state is also responsible for protecting the natural foundations of life for future generations (…) through executive power and jurisprudence.”
She goes on to say: “Billions are already affected by the climate catastrophe and people are dying as a result. UN Secretary-General António Guterres describes our government's 'renunciation of leadership' as 'criminal'. We demand that it live up to its responsibility again and save oil, for example through a speed limit and free public transport.”
