“We urgently need a climate chancellor! Chancellor Scholz's current course puts the population's basic rights to life and freedom in massive danger. The constitution also applies to a chancellor! We expect him to make a clear statement that there will be no deadly oil drilling in the North Sea.”

The initiative has been blocking highways in Berlin almost every day since June 18th. Several climate activists have already suffered injuries during the peaceful traffic disruptions. Just yesterday there was one Man was knocked down by a police officer and suffered a broken collarbone and a concussion. Even after such incidents, the peaceful resisters will continue to block. Because they know that hundreds of millions of lives are at risk due to climate collapse. They continue to demand an explanation from the Chancellor.

In the words of Lea Bonasera (24), co-founder of Last Generation:

“We are running out of time in the fight against climate collapse. Olaf Scholz now has to speak out. If he doesn't do it, German politics will miss the last exit towards a future worth living. We demand: 'Save oil instead of drilling'. A speed limit and free public transport would be the first steps here. If they were implemented, Mr. Scholz would take an important step towards becoming a 'climate chancellor'.”
