Berlin, June 28.06.2022, 7 - During the G7 summit in Elmau, the citizens of the last generation put their resistance on hold to wait for the Chancellor to act. Olaf Scholz is not fulfilling his responsibility for the lives of people in Germany, in the GXNUMX and the world. Scholz's course is also leading us into hunger, misery and death in Germany. The supporters of the last generation therefore see themselves forced to point out to the Chancellor his responsibility for the lives of millions of people and to continue the motorway blockades from tomorrow, Wednesday.
Henning Jeschke (22), co-founder of the Last Generation initiative: “We are still urgently looking for a climate chancellor. Where is Olaf?! We have three short years left to correct the current course of Olaf Scholz and the G7, which is leading us over the cliff into a 2, 3, 4 degree hotter world in which water shortages, hunger, flight and wars will be the order of the day .”
Carla Hinrichs, Spokesperson for the initiative: “From Wednesday we will peacefully block motorways in Berlin again. We have no choice because the government's course is killing us. Scholz continues to talk seriously about wanting to become climate neutral by 2045 and thus comply with the Paris Agreement, although it is clear that with current emissions we will exceed 2035 degrees by 1,5 at the latest. "
Last Generation Citizens are determined not to stand idly by as our children are sent into death, suffering and misery while solutions are on the table. Olaf Scholz has to make a statement that there will be no new drilling for North Sea oil. Instead, saving oil instead of drilling is now necessary. Measures that can be implemented immediately include free public transport and a speed limit.
