Berlin, October 21.06.2022, 08, 30:XNUMX a.m – For the second day in a row, last generation citizens are blocking the A100 city highway today. With their peaceful resistance, the climate activists are once again calling for Chancellor Olaf Scholz to cancel new oil drilling in the North Sea. They also advocate free public transport and a speed limit under the motto “Save oil instead of drilling”.
Also on the street today Solvig Schinköthe (42), psychologist and mother of 3 children: “For decades, science has been telling us about droughts, war and shortages as a result of climate catastrophe. Nevertheless, there is still no serious political change in sight. I'm stunned by this! I see it as my civic duty to call on our Chancellor to do the right thing: save oil instead of drilling in the North Sea!"
Henning Jeschke (22), co-initiator of the last generation, who today also sticks to the asphalt, adds: “I have no future on the path that the government under Olaf Scholz is taking us. The extreme heat we are currently experiencing is just a small foretaste of what awaits us as global warming continues to rise. That's why we have to act now! We are the last generation that can still prevent climate collapse. For a future worth living, I am prepared to take responsibility and even go to prison."
The climate protectors are planning daily disruptions to road traffic in the federal capital in order to make the federal government aware of their demands in an unignorable manner. An end will only be in sight as soon as Prime Minister Olaf Scholz credibly declares that there will be no oil drilling in the North Sea.
