41 people arrested after Last Generation highway closures

Frankfurt, April 12.04.22, 13, 30:XNUMX p.m – 41 people were arrested by police this morning after their peaceful but determined resistance to the government's fossil fuel madness. This morning they caused kilometer-long traffic jams with nine roadblocks on all major highways in and around Frankfurt. In doing so, they are protesting against the federal government's continued expansion and financing of fossil fuel infrastructure.

Solvig Schinköthe (42) traveled to Frankfurt with her family to confront this fossil madness. She was arrested by police today during her peaceful protest along with her 20-year-old daughter Lina.

When she was arrested, she said: “We must now stop the fossil fuel madness that our government is supporting with billions of dollars every year! Otherwise we will rob our children of any hope of a fulfilling life in peace.''

Her daughter Lina, before she was taken away by the police: “Instead of finally stopping their fossil fuel madness, the government is having us citizens arrested and taken away in handcuffs like criminals. But we are determined to continue our peaceful resistance once we are released. We will keep coming back until the Scholz government finally lives up to its constitutional responsibility and abandons its destructive course.''

,,The federal government announced on Friday that it wanted to support companies by expanding further fossil fuel infrastructure. The Ukraine war serves as a flimsy justification. But it actually shows how absurd it is to continue to finance wars by dictators all over the world with new infrastructure and thus send people everywhere into flight, death and destruction," said Carla Hinrichs, press spokeswoman for the Last Generation, before she himself was also arrested.

And she appealed: “People are now standing up against this and doing their civic duty. Join them. Come to our lecture at Club Voltaire this Thursday at 19 p.m.''
